HOW TO PLAY

AIM & SHOOT

Move the mouse or your finger to aim the red crosshair. Click or tap to shoot. The red target disappears 0.2 seconds after your last move or tap — wiggle the mouse, drag, or tap again and it pops right back. Your shells depend on your mode — make them count!

GAME MODES

EASY — the classic game: one animal at a time, 3 shells per target. MEDIUM — 2 animals come out at the same time, and you get 5 shells to drop them both. HARD — 3 animals at once, and 10 shells for the whole bunch. The animals are always random, so you never know what's coming next. Pick your mode on the settings screen before you start — and both cheat warps ask you to pick the mode for that run too.

BUTTONS

ENTER GAME (title screen) — opens the SETTINGS screen, and pressing it starts the music. The music keeps playing while the game is on screen; it stops when you close the game or when the game app is not on screen — you switch to another game, another app, or a browser — and it picks back up when you return. On the SETTINGS screen: SOUND: ON / OFF turns the music and every sound effect on or off; EASY, MEDIUM, and HARD pick the mode your next run plays at; START GAME begins a fresh run at Round 1. The ☰ MENU button (top right — it shows on the Settings screen and during the game, never on the title screen) opens the menu; HOW TO PLAY in the menu opens these rules and pauses the game, and CLOSE puts them away again. The bottom bar appears from the Settings screen on: SETTINGS bails out of whatever is happening — a run in progress, game over, an open panel — and takes you back to the Settings screen; SOUND: ON / OFF is the same sound switch as the one on the Settings screen, and the two always match; RESTART restarts the level you are currently on — a fresh run starting at that level with a score of zero, keeping the mode you picked — and if these rules are up when you press it, it closes them and drops you straight back into that game. At GAME OVER: PLAY AGAIN replays the level you just lost on, starting a fresh run at that level; EXIT takes you back to the Settings screen. After the FINAL LEVEL: PLAY AGAIN replays Level 50, and RESET takes you back to the Settings screen. In the cheat panels: EASY, MEDIUM, and HARD pick the difficulty for the warped run; in the level warp, the numbered buttons 1–49 then start that run at the level you tapped — in the Level 50 panel, picking a difficulty starts the final level right away; CANCEL closes the panel — in the warp it resumes the level you were already playing, with the mode you were already playing, and in the Level 50 panel it takes you back to the title screen.

TARGETS

Ducks burst out of the grass and trees: Mallards, Black Ducks, and Redheads. Pigeons are quick. Squirrels climb the trees. Gators crawl through the grass. Lions charge just like bears — fast and mean — drop them before they reach you! Elephants stomp slowly across the grass: big targets, but they won't wait around. And a bear charges you every round — drop it before it reaches you! Every target you shoot pays the same: 1,000 points in Round 1, and the payout climbs by 100 points each round — Round 2 pays 1,100, Round 3 pays 1,200, and so on.

ROUNDS

5 targets a round — one at a time on Easy, in bunches on Medium and Hard. Get the number shown at the start to advance — the quota climbs as the rounds go up. Get all 5 for a PERFECT bonus of +10,000.

LEVEL 50

Level 50 is the last level: 10 targets come at you one right after another — or in bunches on Medium and Hard. Go 10 for 10 to be named the Greatest of all Time!

MIND THE DOG

When an animal gets away, your dog pops up crying, with tears rolling off his cheeks — and nail a perfect round and he comes out to shake his booty for you. He's on your side — try not to nick him. Nick him and he'll let out a cat's meow. Shoot him while he's shaking his booty and a popup pops up with a random wisecrack — it might call you a Window Licker, and it only gets worse from there.

CHEAT CODES

Tap “Buck Shot” 5 times on the main screen to warp to Level 50 — you pick Easy, Medium, or Hard for that run first. During a game, tap the left tree 5 times to open the level warp: pick your difficulty — Easy, Medium, or Hard — then pick any level from 1 to 49, or press Cancel to keep playing the level you're on. The tree warp works as often as you like.
